Peck, If nothing else just go for a visit. It's like stepping back in time. You can sit all afternoon and sip on various blends. It hasn't changed a bit in the 50 or so years I've been going there. Great way to idle away an afternoon or an evening. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. You'll enjoy it. If you like a good English, ask to try Century. They sell by the oz., half pound or full pound. The latter two come in the old paint style cans. Brace yourself if you buy and carry it away, Massachusetts imposes a pretty stiff tax. Ship it and you can avoid that cost. Enjoy Boston, it's a great town.

They were one of the first shops I ordered from when I started pipe smoking a few months ago. I've tried 6-7 of their blends - DD, No Name, Black Virginia, Omega, etc. and I didn't think any of their blends were all that great.
I'm moving forward and trying different tins now and just about anything from Drew Estate will be better than anything from Peretti.

Tashkent is an amazing smoke ... buttery, citrusy Turkish blend with condiment level Latakia.
If you like Izmir / Turkish tobacco, it's an absolute must try! :puffy:

The pound size that I've ordered came in the paint cans. One of them had loose rust in it, but the tobacco was in a plastic bag and was fine. When I reported it the clerk seemed to enjoying a private joke. The board that I was on at the time offered a consensus that the cans were like a trademark but not meant for storage.

Peretti's BORT blends get all the glory but I prefer Oriental #40 (Thanks for the recommendation, Pruss!!!). It's richer, creamier and more satisfying for this Lat lover......that's Lat for latakia, not latino.

My pleasure. I think that the mixed bag of Oriental leaf in the #40 really makes it special. This is my go-to autumn tobacco. It's perfect for campfires and Islay whiskeys.
