I have a couple of observations:
1. Someone said above that everyone's opinion must be respected. I completely disagree with that comment. I think everyone's right to voice their opinion has to be respected, but that does not mean the opinion itself must be respected. If you think Hitler was a great guy and just misunderstood, you of course have the right in a free and democratic society to voice that opinion, but that does not mean I have to respect the opinion itself or you for voicing it. Opinions are not all created equal.
2. In a debate, people often retort that they have a right to their own opinion. This is, of course, correct, but as a famous learned judge once said, they don't have the right to their own facts. Facts and opinions should never be conflated. If Billy voices an "opinion" that Castello pipes are made with only a 1mm draw hole, he should be challenged because he is making a statement of fact not voicing opinion. Of course there are always grey areas, and that's where debates get interesting.

Harris, when I asked my son a few years back why he wanted to be a lawyer, he answered "because I'm good at arguing!" Goddamn right he is!! LOL

Whenever I listen to Harris, I feel like I am standing beside a babbling brook. The water gurgles and makes lots of interesting sounds, but the sounds don't impart any information.
I hate to voice this view, but the words in Harris's (all too frequent) posts more often than not dance before my eyes in a completely meaningless procession, and leave in my mind only a confused sense of some vitally important, but successfully concealed, purport, which is within my power to extract only after the most inordinate expenditure of time. His posts are no doubt written with a passion of self-perceived rationality, but I can't help but wonder whether they have any significance save that the words are strung together with occasional syntactical correctness.
That is both fact and opinion. :nana:

I love it here. We may not agree, but most of us have fun doing it.
My dad use to say that opinions were like assholes, everyone has one.

I'm increasingly convinced that Peck and Harris are married, neighbors, or some sort of dynamic duo in disguise....like Obama and Biden. Well, maybe not dynamic then but.....
PS- Our VP is so effective that I literally forgot his name for a second, and had to resort to Google. Not sure if that's my fail, his fail, or both.
Crap I went politics on this.
I'm done now :)

Every 5 minutes someone wastes on their babbling diatribe is 5 less minutes spent enjoying a delicious bowl. I'll take the latter.

To go back to the beginning of the thread, I think it is legitimate to say a product (like a blend of tobacco) is overrated, even if someone else

has expressed enthusiasm for it. It helps to say, "in my experience," or some other disclaimer to assure people that you don't think this opinion

comes from a Higher Power, but it's still okay. In my opinion. Does that make you "charming," spoken in a sarcastic manner? No, it means you

think the blend is overrated. We have to stay on task here.

Keep it going Boys! This is one of the most entertaining threads in a long time. Cigrmaster, you are in rare form.

Dadgum, you sure do like to walk the horse around the barn a few times before putting him up, Peck. Down here in Texas I can say in five words what it took you two paragraphs to say ' "Harris is full of manure!"
Continue on folks. I'm enjoyin' the show!
