Just for fun I sorted my usual ebay search by highest price first (does anyone really look for things that way?) and found these.

That Meer looks incredible, but not something you could use. Anyway, if any of you have a few extra grand to spare, here are some suggestions for you.

They're priced like works of art. The carving is certainly interesting, but no fine art. However, if someone will pay, that's what it's worth, although perhaps not on re-sale. That's eBay.

I realize that meers are mostly just cheap pipes, most coming in at under a mere $300. But, you'd think that if guy could carve a pipe, that he could carve the stem too. But, maybe that's why they can keep their prices so cheap.

I’ve done the “highest price” for pipes on eBay several times just to see what’s the latest in dysfunctional offerings. It’s kind of like shopping at a Vegas Casino mall store, really bad taste, questionable quality, at stratospheric prices, but without the hookers.

Yanik had a gigantic meer up for $15,000, featuring a family of horses. Zooming in, he depicted their veins. Showed it to my cousin who's been a horse show person since way back; she noted that they're thoroughbred horses and the muscle and bone structure is all correct.
