Yeah, the damn thing will be about 200-300 miles south of me. So, I won't be watching.

Last one (2017 I think) we had absolutely perfect weather.
This one is shaping up well too.
This map shows the path of totality. I'm in Louisville, just a hair south of totality, but still looks great.

Seen one eclipse, seen them all. 
The one thing that surprised me from the last one, was that when you see the light on the ground between the leaves of a tree, they all show the ring of the eclipse, like thousands of pinhole projectors. You don't even have to look up to see it or have any special equipment. Kind of trippy.

If the skies cooperate, I should have a great view of the eclipse.

Here in my corner of Washington State, we're nowhere close to having a good view. It's so overcast out today I can't even see the sun to view even a partial eclipse. Just another grey day here in the PNW for me.
That's a great idea! I ran to find mine, but it's an auto-darkening type, and it must need a lot more light to work.

There is an old saying, "pictures just don't do it justice." The first time I understood the meaning of those words I was a sailor, watching the sunset in the middle of the Pacific. The next was seeing the Aurora from the Bering Sea. The last time was when I visited the Grand Canyon... today was another one of those days. Sitting in the path of totality for today's solar eclipse was one of the most spectacular experiences of my life. It was absolutely stunning. Wow.

From Chicago , 93% of totality was just neat. I agree with Cosmic that the weird shadows were the coolest part.
It was really something. When it went total, Jupiter and Venus popped up out of nowhere. Fucking awesome.
It was pretty overcast here in the Austin area. Got a few glimpses of it but not too great for viewing. I could see Jupiter for a brief second between the clouds but not Venus.
The ancients just took a crap when that happened.

Here's a view of the ceiling in my wife's home office. Towards the end of the eclipse, the sun was shining through the closed window blinds, hitting a round glass tile tray on her desk. When she turned/rotated the tray, the colors moved like a kaleidoscope.
