I’ve seen a few debates in old strings.
But I’m wondering, is there such thing as a soft piece of briar? I have one that I carved that’s degrading and seems to be burning inside - spiderweb looking cracks in a charred thin layer that comes off with a little scrape. I have 30 or pipes and have carved 6 - and I smoke them all with the same technique - so it’s not like I smoke one of them crazy hot compared to the rest.
I do recall that piece was really white looking. Has anyone experienced anything similar? I would toss a piece that looked really white inside right now.
