I'm wondering if I can beg an explanation as to why someone would want to soak a pipe in anything at all.
Really ? how long do you soak em for?I completely submerge estate pipes in 99.9% isopropyl alcohol when I want to re-stain them.
Kosher salt is what I have always used to do my salt and alcohol treatments with, and I have never had a problem doing it that way. The only thing that I would say to be careful of is that if you have to do multiple salt and alcohol treatments on the inside of a bowl, check the inside of the bowl after it has been allowed to dry for about 24 hours. Sometimes, if you do multiple treatments, I have found that some residual white dust from the salt will stick to the inside of the bowl, and it is quite an experience the first time you accidentally suck some of that salt dust in while going to light your freshly cleaned pipe. If you do have some of this salt dust sticking to the inside of your bowl, a light scrape with a doubled over pipe cleaner will make quick work of it.i have a question here. is kosher salt ok to use when cleaning the inside of the bowl?
