Been bored, so been watching One Championship Muay Thai and MMA on YouTube. Usually don't care too much for fights, but Muay Thai fights are something else. Some serious blood sport. MMA is OK, but could get really boring if boxer and grappler go at each other. Boxer doesn't want to be taken down, and grappler doesn't want to be punched. So they circle around each other most of the time. Either way, flying knee to the chin looks rather painful x)

I use to really enjoy the UFC but have not followed it in some time. As a teenager, I was getting into some trouble so my dad signed me up at an MMA gym. This was at a time when MMA was really growing in popularity and these types of gyms were popping up all over. I was really attracted to the BJJ training. I even competed in a competition. It was really a great time and helped me loads in a difficult season. I would love to start doing BJJ again.

I had a student who had been recently orphaned that I let live with us for the rest of his senior year. He was into it. As in participating. He was a good kid, and strong as an ox, but a little too timid and a little too slow for it. He ended up getting his orbital broken pretty badly, as well as his nose on another occasion. But I’d haul him to the gym anyway. It’s what he loved doing. This was right before all the CTE stuff started coming out, otherwise I would’ve taken a stronger stance trying to talk him out of it.
But yeah, I enjoy watching it.

Yeah, some fights, they get hit on the head rather badly. Not just punches, but elbow, and knee strikes.I do wonder about what's gonna happen in their future.

I enjoy watching it a times, but I don't go out of my way to watch it. I practise Brazillian Jujitsu myself so I appreciate the grappling aspects.

I remember watching the early mixed martial arts fights where they paired up different styles to fight each other. That was entertaining to watch. The progression of MMA has made it very clear that there is a big difference between some ancient martial arts and functional martial arts. A combination of Muay Thai, wresting and BJJ goes a long way towards making someone a complete martial artist.

I've been a fan of boxing from the 60's. Followed it up until a year or so ago. Then asked my son, what the hell is this. Super champ, intern champ, there was 2 more champ belts. I asked him who is actual champ for this belt. My son shrug his shoulders.
Was the last time I watched.

Sure, but I prefer boxing.

I see no moral problems here.
We're talking fighters who wants to fight.
They are trained for it and know what they are doing.
Violence is part of human nature, whether we like it or not.
UFC, and other martial arts forms, is the civilized use of violence.
