Hopefully it is nothing. If it were me I would get the biopsy just to be sure, but I am overly cautious when it comes to stuff like that. As everyone has said, it likely has nothing to do with your pipe smoking though - the only person I know who has gotten oral cancer had never touched a nicotine product in his life (anecdotal evidence and all that).
