You’re assuming that critical thinking is widespread. The studies I’ve looked at indicate 1 to 4% of the population practices it.
Well around here you won’t make it to tomorrow without critical thinking, something will kill or hurt you. Guess we are the minority.

I was watching something the other day about the storage of information on the web and the digitisation of books and films etc and Martin Scorsese and others say films and entire chunks of history are being destroyed or lost because it doesn’t fit the narrative. So when you‘re surrounded by information it’s still manipulated. A great example is the narrative that the Nazi’s burnt all the books but this theory has now been blown wide open, it was someone else entirely……………..

And on certain public free to use websites showing that would have people reporting you to their local state government for hate speech.

But that is the idea of digital m3dia. They can change it at whim and you have no rights about it.

Kindle has altered books at random ti.es to meet changing political views. Even to changing gender and race of characters to make stories and sub plots fit ideology guidelines.

Yeah, I wouldn’t put much faith in an article that rests its trustworthiness on antisemitic beliefs and conspiracy theories.

Let’s see the stats, and the context, from several less obviously biased sources.

When you accept little at face value you are left to use your brain.

That's another issue with the school reaching children from kindergarten to only trust what the liberal media says , you have people programed to hate a d disbelief the actual truth when they find it.

It's easy to believe wietd tales about nazi Germany when as a child you saw it in a movie made, written. Directed and acted by people who were Jewish. People and Ai belive the Charlie Chaplin fil. He plays a weird version of Hitler is true.

Proper education is the parents' responsibility, You have to, many times, contradict what teachers are teaching, make corrections. Then maybe get involved with other parents and provide guidance for your local school board. Too many parents simply ignore their required position in the education equation, abdicating their most important position in their children's education. Easier than being a fully involved parent.

Well, there again, supposition and conspiratorial thinking indicated in this reply render it less useful in some ways, as do the typos.

But, the article and the other responses point to a lack of critical thinking, which is germane to the topic.

You only say that because you feel it's not true.

Im used to dealing with people who follow the "emotional thinking and feeling logic" ideology. And it's really funny watching them crumble when "it has to be true because it feels true" is disproven by hard fact.

I'll still relate this, back in 2011-2013, I went back to school to study psychology.

Psych 101, the most basic entry level class, was set up this way:
• Class met 3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday).
• Professor opened the test for the chapter(s) we were about to start the following week in class.
• Tests were open-book, online, 10 or 20 questions, each of which was taken VERBATIM from the book. Tests were NOT timed, and you didn't have to complete it all at once, you could save and come back later.
• Finish the test and it tells you how many you missed and your grade. If you so choose, you could see her after class and have the test reset so you could try again. You could have your UNTIMED, OPEN-BOOK test reset up to THREE TIMES.
• She additionally gave easy, 10 minutes or less bonus assignments weekly that was sometimes as stupid as taking a personality test. If you did it, you got bonus points.
• She took roll call randomly, if you happened to be in-class when she took roll, bonus points
• If you had an A in the class at the end, you were exempt from having to take the final exam (which was also open book).

Multiple students, who were "smart enough to get into university" still somehow failed that class.

It could not have been any easier, and several still failed.

Same semester, I also took Music Appreciation as an elective and the professor there was talking about how they just recently increased the entry standards at the university, so everyone that was there should be proud.

This professor did tests in this way where the tests questions were jumbled, all the same test just different orders in 3 versions (to prevent cheating). Professor first handed out a scantron answer sheet and said to put the test version letter on the scantron, as well as said multiple times to NOT WRITE ON THE TEST. Only put answers on the scan tron.

First 4 tests, multiple students wrote on the test, and he reminded everyone multiple times, DO NOT WRITE ON THE TEST.

This was at an accredited university.

Yes, people are beyond mindless and stupid. It's amazing to me that more people don't die of butt-rot from not knowing how to wipe their own asses, or suffocate because they forgot to breathe and nobody reminded them.

Wrong. I say that because colored language that does not pertain to the point is contained in your response. You don’t see it because you’re on autopilot.

Trying to make a class passable by anyone merely defeats the point of a class.

Like how I had a businessanagement class that actually had a section in the book that talked about how Efron was actually bad employees cheating the system and the head honcho.

I think there is enough information in the public domain about the Office of Information Control (OIC) and the Information Control Division (ICD) and their re-eductaion of Germans to American Standards post WW2. They did it with radio and film and had many dissenting critics both in their own departments and outside about free speech and the removal of German history which may have helped Germans understand their atrocities and flawed doctrine so much better, its not a leap to include publications and literature. This is what this department was set up to do...........

Yes, I totally agree. Hey, is the Atlas comet a UFO? My sister-in-law says yes, she says the images are very clear and you'd have to be really stupid not to see that that petrified dinosaur shit is a UFO disguised as a petrified dinosaur rock, but that it's actually a UFO disguised as a huge piece of petrified shit.GI61.gif

None of this is true.

This is antisemitic propaganda that distorts or invents history.

We will not tolerate this here. Be careful what you post next.

The way i see it, asking in a dedicated forum is way better than doing research online. On the web, you only get one persons' opinion and answer. In a forum, or discord server, you get a lot more varied replies and discussions among the people who answered, on why their answer is the right one.

All in all, a more qualified information that just reading it off the interne or watching videos about it. On that point too... watching videos, I personally loath having to watch a video to get information. There is so much wasted time ans answers that could have been answered in a few minutes end up being 10-15 minute videos (rant over)

On the social part of your point, I guess finding places where people have common interests and some times passions, is harder to do in the real world. Not to mention that here, or on any other platform, when you write something, many more will read it, than the one or two people that you talk to in a bar.

It's just a different way of being social and getting in formation. I don't see it as a bad thing really. Information and knowledge needs to be updated and repeated. It's always been this way.
