I have been to Alaska twice and really wanted to see the Northern lights. I guess my timing was off both times. Absolutely stunning! Thanks for posting !

We occasionally get a bit of the Northern lights here in the Adirondacks.
I'm reminded of the Northern Exposure episode where all the Japanese tourists flock to Alaska the conceive. They believe a child conceived during the Northern lights will be powerful.

I grew up here in the ‘Northland’ and have seen them a few times in my life. Absolutely stunning, curious and amazing. I was up late drinking with my closest friend one night as a teenager and we were able to watch them for a long time. We drank through the night and on a liquor run the next morning crashed the truck and he died. That was the last time I ever saw the Northern Lights in person. I would love to see them one more time.
Awesome! I have seen them a couple dozen times in my lifetime. Don’t occur down here that often at 45 lat. Great pics!
It was overcast here… 15” of snow a couple days ago, and an 1” of rain the other day. Good viewing up North of here though.

Thanks AlaskaPiper....beautiful photography. Here in eastern Canada I'd seen them faintly a few times as a kid, just light hazes of green. When I moved to Northern Alberta in '02 for a teaching gig, I couldn't believe my eyes. The greens were so vivid but it was the pinks and purples that always captivated me...and the movement. The local legend was that if you whistled, they would dance for you. Use to have my puppy out for 3am pees and would stay under the stars and whistle and watch them dance.
And your pics managed to get some of those purple hues...I love it.

One can only wonder what the ancients made of these phenomena, scared the willies out of them I would imagine.

what about the pipe smoking moose of Fairbanks? Ever see them?That last one is by far the most rare
Temps this time of year range from 30 to -30 F. Typically they hover between 15 and 25 though. 6 is what we would call "chilly" for this time of year.

Absolutely beautiful pics! Work picked the wrong week (last week) to send me to Fairbanks haha. We saw a little aurora as you usually do on the way up, but nothing like yours. Fantastic!
