As some have mentioned, the question is geared more toward coffin nails, but if you burn 3 or 4 bowls a day like some of these guys, don't do it indoors and store your pipes where they can be locked away from nosey landlords. A misrepresentation on your app can result in loss of deposit, eviction and more money, depending upon how your contract is worded.
I happen to be a landlord and typically rent to non-smokers because a pack-a-day nail smoker can permanently ruin walls and ceilings with tar staining that can't be covered by any amount of Kilz and paint. Not to mention butts all over the house, lawn, etc.
That said, I really don't give a rat's ass if they only smoke outside and clean up after themselves, even if they did lie on the app, because they are not f---ing up my house, which is the whole point of a non-smoking clause. Hell, If they're a piper, I'll come over and have a bowl on the porch with them. Most landlords may not be sympatheic like me, though.
There are really only 2 things landlords want: 1. Don't f--- up my property and 2. Pay your rent on time, without fail, every month. Do those things, clean up and give proper notice when you decide to move and you'll have a happy landlord and possibly a freindship out of the deal.

I'm generally with these guys. Smoke on the porch, and I can't imagine he'll care. If you indulge in the tub now and then, have a window open if you can - and lots of nice candles and so on burning. You should be OK.

Yeah I'd say a little pipe smoking inside the house every now and then isn't going to hurt the house or make it smell up the place. If you are worried about that though my suggestion would be to try and smoke with the windows open if you can, as mentioned, and buy one of those air purifiers. A guy who has a pipe vlog on youtube said he got one and puts it on full power right next to him when he smokes indoors and no longer has the ashtray smell problem in his house. One other way of keeping that smell out of the house is wash the walls of the room you smoke in once or twice a year. My fiance's grandma used to smoke cigarettes all the time in her living room and when she passed away and my fiance and her mom were readying the house for a renter they got rid of the ashtray smell by spraying the walls down with a mixture of vinegar and water and rubbing the walls with a clean rag. You'd never have known a smoker lived in that house for over twenty years after they cleaned the walls.

Well said - although, personally, I didn't mind if my tenants called looking for a weeks extension on the rent here and there, as long as it wasn't a regular thing. But man, dick with my holdings and I'm going to get angry...

:worship: Thanks EVERYONE!!! I GOT THE HOUSE!!! Signed the contract yesterday... although... that part of the lease did come up again. The question specifically is "Do you or anyone living in the house smoke?" ... lol... I'm a renter and it was never smoked in. I'll respect their wishes and smoke outside... it's more serene anyway ;) I move in two days and I'll certainly light up the back porch :puffy: I found a nice park in Wilmington that's kind of secluded... I think I'll start a pipers meetup there and see how many Delawarians would show up to socialize with their pipes! :) Thanks again for all your suggestions... :D I think the idea of smoking a pipe in or out of your home is much like the whole burgers in the car rental idea someone mentioned... so long as you clean it up.. I don't know what the deal is. I'd even prefer they make me have a smokers deposit... like a pet deposit so if I DON'T clean it up they charge me rather than ban it all together. :puffy: but that's just my two cents.
