Hey Pete I've been trying out the tins you sent me, and can't say I dislike snuff because I'm still letting my nose get used to it. Haven't felt much nicotine hit from it yet, which is the whole idea for me. I have a large sampler assortment on the way from Mr Snuff. Will report back after it arrives.
If I recall correctly the Torque is beginner stuff. At least you get an idea and I am sure your order from Mr Snuff will be of higher nic content. Let us know what you got and how you like it.

I have been looking to try snuff. I wonder if the Mr. Sniff starter bundle is any good? Any experience my fellow pipe smokers?
I took a peek and their "Starter Bundle" doesn't actually look good at all, more like a collection of slow selling "aromatics". A bit like P&C starter sets.
Here's a suggestion of a starter set that has most of the basic snuff types:
  • Viking Dark (made by SG)[/*]
  • Fribourg & Treyer Irish High Toast[/*]
  • McChrystal's Original & Genuine[/*]
  • Toque Whiskey & Honey[/*]
  • Bernards Brasil Schmalzlerfranzl[/*]
  • Toque SP Extra[/*]
These are more tobacco-oriented than just the same base with different scents added. If you have sweet tooth (-nose), then maybe change some of these to more fruity ones.
Also, here's a snuff wiki I made for a another board: http://www.reddit.com/r/nasalsnuff/wiki/index

Thanks for suggestions but I couldn't wait! I bought Samuel Gawith Hazelnut, SG Black Coffee and FUBAR Medic which is a menthol. Eagerly awaiting them as we speak! That Wiki is amazing! Thanks a lot.

I was cruising the Net and stumbled upon this fine site because of this post on snuff. I too enjoy the pipe, have for nearly 5 years.

I had to comment on this.

@Shankeltown, if you are going to try snuff, please do not snort it, you gently sniff it into your nostrils. If you want to snort it please video tape it, I'd love to see your reaction on you tube lol.

@peteguy, The brand name is Toque, this particular snuff is mild and the man who makes it uses all natural flavorings, nothing artificial about these snuffs.

@phil67, I understand how some feel when they think of snuff, but when done correctly it is very soothing and you receive a very wonderful bouquet of aromas, similar to the room note of a tin of pipe tobacco, obviously depended on which 'flavor' you choose. Nothing remotely like shoving an ice pick up your nose lol.

Check out the get 10 for the price of 9 sampler, you choose the flavors, they do deliver to the U.S.

Mr Snuff is great for a larger variety, but his shipping is a lot more.

This link is for the greatest snuff forum on the web.

Good luck in your snuff journey. I'll be back later to make an introduction, I'm on my lunch break. Take care.

Quick Edit: To the OP, there are no U.S. sites that sell snuff due to the PACT Act, set up by our current Presidential Administration. See it's just not you Pipe guys dealing with this, except they actually did it to us snuffers, no more online snuff in the good ole U.S. of A

@kendodan: no worries! Those are good choices, as well. SG Black Coffee is one my mainstays, wonderful snuff!

Anyone willing to send me some ... Mainly because I truly don't know if I'll like it.
Unfortunately, I'm at about the end of my supply and need to make another order from Mr. Snuff. Two of my tapboxes are empty and two others are just about there and the F&T isn't far behind.

I've been smoking a pipe for over 30 years, but only got into snuff in the past 12 months. Love it. Perfect for a sharpener in the office when I don't have time to pop out for a short bowl (which is the norm!). Absolute favourites are Old Paris by Fribourg & Treyer and Abraxas Prince Regent. They are both premium snuff (Old Paris is one of the oldest blends in the world and Prince Regent was voted Best New Snuff of 2014) but they are very different. I recommend them.

Can't challenge the mucus membranes of my nose with anything on top of the allergies they already "do" themselves. However, I do wonder how snuff users avoid being mistaken for cocaine users, like in the work place. Many people have never heard of snuff. At least the kids who get mistaken for smoking pot in their tobacco pipes can let anyone sniff the bowl and know what product they are burning. Snuff was big business in Europe in the 17 and 18 hundreds, and the snuff box was a vast craft and art which can be viewed in museums. These people invested heavily in their accessories. Silver, ivory, gold, etc. Jewels. Incredible metal smithing and carving.

@mcitinner1: I think you are limited to Mr. Snuff for shipping to the U.S. However, you may want to check out Old Mill Artisan Snuff. This is a one man operation out of Tennessee fairly new to snuff making and receiving rave reviews. I have tried half a dozen Old Mill snuffs and each one I've tried has been excellent. It looks like you have a good start with that Wilson's of Sharrow, did you get a tin of Irish High Toast #22? That's one of my all time favourites but could be a bit challenging as a first snuff.

There are few white snuffs, most of them are mid to dark brown so it doesn't really appear like other powders that may be insufflated. I snuff all day at work, everybody there knows it's tobacco. It's great not having to go out in the freezing cold for a smoke break.

@mcitinner1 - I live in England and I order from Glyn Quelch at GQ Tobacco. I think Glyn ships to the US but PM me if you need a hand.
