I am very disappointed tonight. This will be the first Chicago Pipe Club meeting that I have missed, since I joined a couple years ago. I couldn't go since i came down with a cold, slight fever, etc. But I really wanted to enjoy a pipe. So I loaded some Orlik Racing Green into a pipe and enjoyed it in my garage. Since it has a slight great fruit flavor, surely that would be vitamin C and thus good for me! Right?

Hee hee. I like how you think. :D Actually, When I have a sore throat, I find that retrohaling cherry blends really help.

Suffering the same at this very moment. Nose is like a faucet and throat is irritated. Filled a small clay pipe with G&H Brown Flake Unscented. Can hardly enjoy the taste but stubbornly enjoying myself through the cold haha. Hope you feel better very soon!

I heard adding eucalyptus leaves to your blend clears up your sinuses. ;)
FYI: Just kidding, for all I know this could be poisonous

If I have any respiratory issues, there's no way I can smoke a pipe...it's better for me to wait a few days and whine loudly...

Ugh, I feel your pain. I'm coming to the end of being sick for two weeks. I usually smoke between 5-8 bowls a day. I haven't smoked 8 bowls in two weeks. I smoked four bowls today. But what a crappy deal.

I hope every one feels better soon!
As for smoking while sick, there's a big difference than a sniffle and the flu. If you still get some flavour out of it and find it comforting, I guess it can't be that bad.
I have read that smokers lose vitamin C from the bloodstream, but hey I don't know what to believe these days.

I can't smoke if I'm sick. Chest cold/head cold means no pipe for me. I usually have no taste and if I'm congested then I can't smell either, so there's no point in smoking if I can't smell and taste.

I can't smell or taste, but I'm not completely laid out, so I figured I'd be productive and have put three bowls of drugstore stuff through my meerschaum to advance the coloring haha. Might as well get something good out of this! ;)

I always find it to be a bad idea. Taste is way off and the whole event never as enjoyable as it should be. I usually feel sicker afterwards to boot. But still, I apparently haven't learned my lesson well enough to stop trying from time to time.

Never when I have a respiratory infection. Currently have a nasty viral bronchitis & couldn't imagine smoking. I can wait until it has resolved - delayed gratification is not difficult.

Every man to the devil his own way, but I'd rather not smoke if I have a bug. It irritates the passages and constricts the capillaries, or so they say. I'll confess, I sometimes don't follow my own advice, but mostly I do.

I'll still light up when I'm under the weather.

Sometimes it's not as enjoyable when I'm sick but that doesn't stop me. :puffy:

When I smoked cigarettes I would usually slow down and smoke a little less but since quitting, just over two years now, I haven't had any sign of a cold. ( knock on wood ) I don't usually crave my pipe but if it wasn't enjoyable because of a cold I wouldn't bother with it.

If I'm not sick enough to not want it,then I must be well enough to smoke it...

I just called in sick for today, Monday. I said my symptoms were congestion, low grade fever and hair loss.
