Smoking while Driving?

After reading this thread, I packed my S Bang nose warmer and smoked it whilst driving to The Briar yesterday. It was actually a lot more pleasant than I'd expected! I packed with care as to insure it'd stay light and puffed away. The only point of concern was the haze in the car, but wasn't so bad I couldn't see. It was quite the enjoyable drive and we're not for this thread, I'd wouldn't have occurred to me. I shall make it a tradition when making a Briar trip. The drive time works out quite well. I'd not want to have to fiddle with it while driving, but if you can time it right, it's quite nice.

Indeed it is--I discovered the same thing. And since I usually drive alone, I don't have to worry about bothering a passenger.

I have 2 distractions in my car-smoking my pipe and listening to novels on audio. I drive at least 30 minutes to and from work, and quite a bit more when I have to go to NYC for business.

I never know how I get to where I'm going until I'm there.

I use the Stink Cigar car ashtray for my cigars. That modification for pipes is pure genius!

I learned years ago that I was a dangerous driver with a pipe. I enjoy cigars while driving alone. 8O

When judcole and I were traveling back to my home from our club's road trip, both of us were smoking our pipes: I was afraid the cops would pull us over because of the doubled smoke in the car!

Smoked maybe a dozen times while driving. Stoplights are your friend, and my pipe went out once on the expressway, had to wait till the exit to get relit... otherwise great experience...

I've had people look at me, but not with suspicion -- mostly just interested, I guess; probably because it's not all that common to see anyone smoking a pipe, here.

I smoke while driving my truck as well. I always get it going before I start my drive, just to make it easier. Once my pipe is lit I am good for about 30-45 minutes or so, so I never have to worry about lighting or tamping or anything like that. My truck is an automatic so it makes it a bit easier to drive and smoke I would assume.
