I don't revisit later. If I'm just looking at a shorter time frame to enjoy a pipe, I'll pick a smaller one or pack less. Stuff happens, and sometimes you put it down - if it's more than just a few minutes it's getting dumped. 99% of the time I've set aside the time for enjoying a bowl and try to relax and actually enjoy it - but it's going to be fresh!

Thanks. That's good advise. The whole objective is to have a good experience. Take care.

I've never had any issues, and I regularly have to come back to a bowl later in the evening or even the following day.

Thanks for the reply. Someone else said they dump the top ash and stir the tobacco before they relight. Do you do anything like that, or do you just relight?

I'm sure he'll respond, but at this point, some do, some don't - it's really now down to you trying a couple of different things and seeing what works for you?

I posted this a while back in another thread, but I think it might be appropriate here too.

Talk about cheap! I can be a real Scrooge when I want to. When my ash tray gets full I take it out in the back yard, check the wind direction, then pore the contents into a kitchen strainer. I shake it around until the fine white ash stops coming out the bottom. Now I'm left with the dottle from my previous smokes.

You guessed it! I smoke it. In my case it's not a bad smoke at all as it's simply the unsmoked tobacco from the last 10 days or so. Some how I get a satisfaction from feeling the I was able to beat the system. Hey, we all have our little quirks. cray
