I would say depends on the pipe. Higher end probably has standard tenon. Best bet is to contact SP about any specific pipe you’re interested in and don’t do for the cheap ones.

Surprisingly no. Mid grades like IMP, Altinay, SRV, etc. use standard fittings while artisans like Keenan, Yanik, and Tenkin use the screw in inserts.

Do you find they still have an open draw? I was surprised that my recent IMP, advertised at 4mm draft was very restrictive. Sent it back and they opened it up and smokes really well now.

I was expecting a screw in tenon but was pleasantly surprised with the standard tenon. My Emin Brothers meerschaum has the screw in tenon. I purchased several replacement tenons off of meerschaum market just in case. You can buy a 3pk for very cheap.

As far as I can tell, the mortise inserts and the tenon inserts are universal, and interchangeable.

I wondered this, as my SRV meer came with a spare tenon/mortise combo. Never heard of that before. Do guys lose the tenon's often??

Wow that took me way to long to find the answer. Mine I got from meerschaum market.
