You know I think it was Russ O who stated that smoking outside actually amplifies the sensitivity of the palate. I have never found that to be the case, in fact, just the opposite no matter what the season. Sounds like you live in an Ohio-like climate. The only smoking I do outside when it is cold is in my garage and that would be just cigars as my wife will not allow me to smoke them in the house. Generally, I have found the wind, even if it is subtle and the numbing of the senses from the cold work against experiencing flavors. But if it works for you then never mind what I say in the end.

Yeah, it's getting right cold here in FL - going down to a frigid 68 tonite! Winter is right nice here for smoking outside with no mosquitos or no-see ums to bother. In summer (6 months of the year), it's the humidity and heat that gets a bit tedious. 20 to 30 f sounds like heaven!

I notice a bit more condensation here. It was in the teens earlier this week. A part if it could be me but I know it happens either way as there have been pipes I let go out that was soaked.

No offense, but I’m not smoking outside when the temp is that low
Up the Great White North© that's still warm! 😁
In the winter I'll smoke less - kind of some down time in my smoking year, but I'm not sure I'd be out either with a pipe in the close to 100F temperatures in warmer climates. Even cigars would be losing their attraction at that point, (I know one friend living in the desert in S. California and in the summer he's usually out smoking around 3am before it gets too hot.). Is it the same for you in the summer?
