My son and I cracked a tin of 05 that we were gifted for Christmas. I can't think of a single bad thing to say about it. As with everyone else, I suppose I wish I had purchased more when I could. But I did okay, I used to buy two or four tins a year so we've got a nice little assortment to choose from in the future.

Not too hijack the thread, but...

Now the question is, which readily available Virginia's to be buying now for the future? I have not tried h&h Virginia flake yet, but maybe that's a contender?

I welcome any thoughts from the experienced Virginia smokers.

I, too, would like to know if there are any contenders to replace Christmas Cheer?

As others have mentioned, maybe not a match for CC but some great ones out there. There was a series of posts by @hoosierpipeguy on building a cellar which has great VA recommendations. I will see if I can dig it up. Also @cigrmaster has some great suggestions.

I finally get to try McClelland’s tobacco. I got a big whiff of that ketchup tin note that everyone talks about. It was such a tasty bowl. Sweet bready notes with a slight fig that would come and go.
I took a macro lens picture of the crystallizations. It’s really a joy to smoke aged tobacco. It lived up to the hype.
Congrats on both the pipe and baccy! Christmas Cheer was always one of the best smoking McClelland blends for me.

There are many good Virginia Flake blends. Unfortunately, nothing very similar at all to McClelland.
