When it’s just me and my coworker (who smokes pipes occasionally) in the office, we go into one of the smaller rooms, open a window and turn on a small fan, then it’s off to the races.

Good ole time. Just like when we used to smoked in our junior high bathroom. Then found out when I moved to NC, they actually had a smoking court in my high school! how civilized. Hope the congress can now function much better. Wait.. When are the hippie congress faction gonna pass the weed allowance in the office?

Couple steak houses in the DC area allow cigar smoking, because that's where Senators go to eat so you know ...

When i lived in Boston, even though the city was non smoking in businesses, offices, etc,. you could smoke in the Bain Capital offices downtown... all it takes is having enough money.

Rumor has it that before the embargo went into effect, JFK had his Press Secretary Pierre Salinger, go to every tobacconist in the DC area to buy out all their inventory of Upmann Petit Coronas. A client of mine who went to the first Big Smoke in Paris sat next to Pierre Salinger and told me he asked Salinger if that was true and that Salinger's reply was "no comment."

Good on congress to change back the rule. I'm guessing most congress critters are probably cigar smokers these days? Interesting to see if any pipes show up.

I'm fortunate in that way that as a self employed cabinet maker, I can smoke my pipe all day long in my shop. Since I work alone 95% of the time, my pipes are my companions and they are good company.

Years ago (mid–late ’90s?), I remember having a Cuban Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona at the Capitol Grille. They had a great venting system there. Are they still around?

Yup and Mortons (an actual decent Morton's not like most of them) I know you can still smoke out on the patio at Morton's, or depending on who you are in a private room but I've never been in "those" rooms.

I guess I smoked after hours out of courtesy to the ladies who worked for me. When that was outlawed sometime in the late 80's I quit smoking in the office.

It helps that I'm the only person in the building for 12 hours at night.


They may be phobic about a cyclops with a handlebar mustache though.
