Starting to Get Obsessed
This morning I am in beautiful Joshua Tree, California; just outside of Palm Springs.

My wife and I came out to the solitude of the desert to let her heal up from surgery (She is doing great!) and get away from the stress of the Open House our realtor is conducting this weekend! With any luck at all the house will be under contract by the end of the week, and we can start our move to Colorado!

Today I am in Silver Springs, NV, located in NW Nevada, east of Reno.

You were indeed fortunate to have been there. The Reno and Carson City areas of Nevada are beautiful. Some years back I attended a shooting school sponsored by Remington at the Capitol City Gun Club, and I stayed in Reno. The air in both locations had a lucent quality that I had never before seen, and (sadly) never seen since.

Here in the south, we don't have many trees, so I go to the golf club, a green area with many balls. I mean, to smoke a pipe, I'm not a golfer, because I tried it several times, and I always ended up throwing the club, and not the ball. These photos are from the Rias Baixas, in Galicia. One of the most beautiful corners of Spain.PHOTO-2023-08-27-19-52-26[12744].jpgPHOTO-2023-08-27-19-52-26[12749].jpgPHOTO-2023-08-27-19-52-26[12750].jpgPHOTO-2023-08-27-19-52-29[12757].jpgPHOTO-2023-08-27-19-52-56[12760].jpg

Very cool thread. Still working on how to incorporate a pipe on a hike. Cadence and free hands are a concern. The Warden and I hike pretty quickly and we have to scramble on all fours at times. For now, my backyard oasis will have to do. The bird activity has been amazing this spring and the other night I mesmerized by a bat diving for my smoke!

Well, I have been VERY busy in 2024 and have had very little time to smoke, much less post!

My wife and I finally sold our So Cal home in June and moved to Colorado! We bought what I hope will be our last house in Cripple Creek, CO, about 1.5 hours west of Colorado Springs.

We are still adapting and acclimating to mountain living. We bought a log cabin, with only a few neighbors in a .25 mile radius.

I have found a great tobacconist in Colorado Springs (Stagg Tobacconist) and in the nearby town of Woodland Park, I found a very nice little Pipe and Cigar Lounge and Tobacconist, The Tooth & Bear. Happy to report that they have allowed me to become a member. The owner, Jake, is very knowledgeable and is working hard to expand his humidor selection.

I hope to have more time to smoke, now that we are getting settled in. As well as post more often again! Looking forward to joining the 2025 Tobacco Box Pass!

In keeping with the theme of the this thread, here are pictures of me smoking at the new house, and a few pics of the house!

Smoking on the deck, with a herd of deer that hang out at the house. I guess it is a safe place for them.

We also have a couple of flocks of wild turkeys that come by for corn every day.

The house is a 3,100 sq ft, two story log cabin with a basement.

We sit on 1.65 acres of wooded land. And 4 of the 5 ~1.5 acee plots surrounding us are vacant and unbuildable.

Wishing everyone a healthy, safe, happy Holiday Season!

I enjoying a good hike and backpacking. Would love to take my pipe and smoke on a summit. But being here in the brush fire-prone California, I want to be a responsible citizen and not cause a major fire due to carelessness. So I just smoke in my backyard.
