I have a Mac Baren flake that I really enjoy. I have just been breaking it up and putting in my pipe and have had good smokes. I read in another thread that smoking flake properly is another art form, so I would like suggestions or advice from other members on the correct prep and smoking of flake tobaccos

MB does a nice job explaining it all;

You could also cube-cut the flake to start in between practicing the

fold/stuff methods....it does take time, but once you get down...wow

what a smoke you will have ;-)
Note; Yo have to experiment on which style works best

for you; blends, pipes, etc...for example I find that with

MB's ODF I like a cube-cut VS Fold/Stuff method which

gives me the smoke/flavors I desire. Now with Peterson's

Irish and UF, I like the fold/stuff method in Stanwell's 63M

style pipes because they have a nice coned-shaped bowl

which works great for the fold/stuff

I used to break it apart with my fingers into big chunks for years and enjoyed that method. A few months ago I began cube cutting and found that worked even better. The fold and stuff for me worked on occasion but was not as consistent a burn as the other two methods.

I have tried it many ways,,but for me,the fold and stuff method works best for me. I seem to always get my best flavors with that method. And Ill add I usually smoke PS lux Navy Flake, when smoking flakes.

Thanks to Harris, I've been trying Escudo which comes in 'coins'. I've tried to cube cut these as was suggested, but these circles are kind of hard to do. Once I cut with a scissor, it seems to fall apart and the cross cut becomes very difficult.
Suggestions?
thanks

Allan
