So I was just wondering after reading about so many people now smoking a pipe from giving up Cigarettes.
How many people smoke both?
I enjoy a cigar and have done for about 5-6 years.
I've smoked cigarettes for around 25 years. I smoke a lot when I'm drinking but other than that, I can take them or leave them. The odd one on the way to work maybe and maybe the odd one at lunchtime with work friends but it's not an every day thing, sometimes I'll go weeks or months not smoking anything at all.

I quit smoking cigarettes 10 years ago. I quit using vape. I still vape, but only at work. All other times it’s a pipe. I’m moving further away from cigars but still smoke 1 or 2 a week. I enjoy pipe tobacco the most.

I smoked cigs since I was twelve and I'm 35 now and just give it up last month. I'd always say oh I won't be one of those reformed smokers who bashes cigs after they've quit but... Well I'm the sort to bash cigs now. They're just awful anymore now that I've got a taste of what good tobacco can taste like, and the nicotine high is just as good and if it takes a little longer to get, well that's part of the enjoyment. Was having a chat with my roomie about it last night and I came up with a good analogy. Cigarettes are like taking Marijuana and making Crack Cocaine out of it, all the garbage they put in the things and the hell they wreak on your body, not to mention the price! On the whole it's a pretty insidious thing. I won't judge those who still partake, but for me the things were just as bad an addiction as any illicit substance and then twice as bad again because I carried on with them for so long!

Mind you, some have mentioned elsewhere on the forums that people handle the tobacco better than others and some smokers live to ripe old ages and don't have any issue, and that's fine too. I'm pretty sure I put 20 years back on by quitting though as it really was starting to drag me down. Coughing, wheezing and forget about running anywhere! Not that I'm much of a runner, I feel it's only necessary to run when one's life is in danger or you're trying to put someone else's in the same, but now I could do it if I wanted! I used to struggle to get a good breath through the nose, not anymore! I can flare these nose-holes like a bloody racehorse! Oh, and I've started to work out again too, so that's having some benefit aside from tightening up the muscles back into swooning form.

I too quite cigarettes about 13 years ago, I don't miss them and they were a best friend for over 20 years. Today it's pipe tobacco, when convenient, and Copenhagen, when at work, etc. On a side, for those old enough to remember, it use to be the norm to smoke both cigarettes and pipes, man how times have changed.
