It has a very subtle casing of citrus, but for me is a step up from mild tobacco to a really well balanced moderate strength smoke. Go t my dad into it too!

Just picked up 2 Erik Stokkebye's to make free shipping for a pipe that was on sale.. 1882 and family reserve.. Wasn't impressed with the family reserve tin, not sealed its a hinge type. and the baccy is in a bag... while transferring it to a jar it smelled heavenly!!!! sooo Figgy!!!!!! I put some in my teeny tiny 3 oz jars for smoking and the rest to the cellar, unless it tastes as good as it smells!!!!

On the basis of earlier advice, I have Chelsea Morning and other English blends heading my way. I was getting in a rut with LQ1 and Trout Stream.

I recently opened a tin of Peterson Irish Flake. This stuff is an amazing smoke for my hour drive to work. I don’t need near as much coffee after a bowl of this...

Recently Pipes and Cigars decided to start selling their Mid Town Series in 2 oz 'pouches.' I picked up Chatham Manor and Prince Andrew. Match blends to both Carter Hall and Prince Albert which I have not had in ages. I don't fancy myself an OTC/Burley guy, but this stuff is a really nice change of pace and a much higher quality leaf than the originals, so far as I can remember. Also have some Pease Samarra and AJ's VaPer in the mix as well

GLP Samarra it is a very pleasant medium English. Well balanced and without a particularly distinctive quality, would be a good all day smoke.

At my local B&M, I gave my "dealer" a sample of the Peretti Thanksgiving Blend and he gave me some Esoterica Ramsgate.
I'm on my 3rd bowl of it and still working to figure it out. I like it, but am not sure why...

I posted a year or so ago about wanting strong tasting, and strong nicotine tobacco for a recovering cigarette smoker.
Most recommendations were for Samuel Gawith ropes and whatnot.
Well, since SG is similar in rarety as Esoterica, I never got to try those.
Instead, I recently stumbled on MacBaren HH Old Dark Fired.
HOLY CRAP! This IS THE tobacco for a recovering cigarette addict. Strong in flavor, strong enough in the Nic dept, and just a great full flavored tobacco.
As for the theme of this thread... last week I tried my first bowl of HH ODF. This week, I just got done jarring a pound of flake, and 5 pounds of ready rubbed.
I can't get enough of this stuff.

The newest blend to me, that I haven't been able to stop smoking lately, is Old Toby from The Country Squire's Middle Earth blends. It's an absolutely fantastic aromatic blend. It's a bit goopy, but still burns well. And I can't seem to get any tongue burn or bite even if I try. The flavor is right on with the room note. Rivendell is another great aromatic from their Middle Earth tobaccos. The line consists of both aromatic and non-aromatic blends. I intend to try them all.

I brought in some of a 'new' D&R flavor not so long ago. I've tried it straight and in some of my own mixes. What I have will last me a lifetime, just like the whole leaf Latakia I bought that was put up in 1997.
This D&R blend is PenHooker Green, and is advertised as a mint flavor. I guess menthol is a mint. I wasn't expecting such full on menthol.
As for this Latakia I have, a little goes too far and it can't get much older. Seems acidic. Not a flavor thing so much as a tongue reaction.
