I will say that all though I'm in the smoke all day with one pipe camp, and that it's not necessary to rest pipes, that my cake suffers at times from lack of rest. I can tell on days I don't smoke my pipe, that the cake seems to have hardened nicely. My cakes get wet at times, and get brittle and chip away. But that's usually after 20-40 bowls.
