Or next to it actually. The Colorado River/Lake Mohave specifically. Very windy but still enjoyed my first taste of Watch City Rougaroux in my Danish canted egg by carver Doug ( member @doug535 ) with a glass of Italian red.

A most excellent blend that I'm going to need to get some more of.

Grilled some burgers:

Some delicious Arango Balkan Supreme in a Savinelli rusticated Oscar Tiger 305KS post burgerage:

Finished at dusk with some GH&C American Delight in a Savinelli smooth Qandale 602 and a glass of Graham's Six Grapes port:

Not to get too nerdy, but the geography really caught my eyes. The lake is caused by a dam? The flat hills look like a previous ocean floor. I bet the stars really blanket the sky.

Where we were is about a third of the way from Hoover Dam to Davis Dam. A little further down is the actual Lake Mohave which is created by Davis Dam (Near Laughlin, NV) but the wideness and slow flow of the river here is also due to the dam. There are lots of washes that lead to coves on the river:

I always recommend 4 wheel drive as the washes can be soft from deep sand/gravel and you can easily get stuck in a 2 wheel drive. Other than that the washes are usually pretty easy to drive through. Most of the road access is left over from old mines. I read the area was just getting started in gold mining when the depression hit and, I assume, wasn't rich enough in ore to sustain the industry through the era as it didn't survive the economic downturn.

The whole area of Southern Nevada was once a sea as I understand it. There are a few hiking trails where you can find fossilized sea shells and snails embedded in the rocks. Most of the mountains and uprises are due to volcanic activity but you can see layers in areas formed by different geological processes.

There are also a surprising amount of petroglyphs in the area but many require a decent 4x4 or some hiking to get to.

I'm always looking for the next tasty perique blend, this may be it. Just glad that rougarouxs are finally getting the attention they deserve since I live in the heart of rougaroux country. We even have a festival every Fall just for them:sher:
