Hope ya can get the pipe fixed and get back out soon!

Thanks, gwtwdbss. The water is all fixed. That only took one day. I just had to return to get a part that I didn't keep on the boat.
I'll probably stay here at the marina for a few days just to enjoy anyone else's cooking. I really do not enjoy cooking and peanut butter can get tiresome after a while.
A week is way too short of a time for the San Juans.

I agree. I grew up on Orcas Island in this house.

This is a picture I took last year. It's posted in this thread: Sailing Around the Sound.
I'll try to post some new pictures this year later after I get moving again.
Piping and boating were made for each other.

Yup. I pay my dues during the winter, but the summers make it worth it. :puffy:

Phillip~

We use to sail around Commencement Bay. Unfortunately I scared my wife (too close to a tanker) while I was learning the craft and she has never wanted to go again. I showed her your pictures and she showed some interest.

Thanks.

Good to see you Phillip!
I thought this was going to be a "what's a good tobacco for on the boat" thread and almost didn't pop in; I'm glad I did. I always enjoy seeing the photos and hearing about life in the water.

That is one gorgeous vessel
I am totally aware of the maintenance issues in owning anything that goes into the water, especially salt water LOL
Enjoy your summer

Great looking boat, and I can picture you with your beard and pipe relaxing on deck. Thanks for the post.

Phillip, I am near the San Juans. If you make anchor near Anacortes let me know and maybe we can meet up for a smoke or two.

Thanks, bigboi. I've been up to the San Juans the past two years. This year I won't make it past Port Townsend. Maybe next year I'll be up your way.
I seldom get pictures of myself because I usually sail off alone to find a quite place. Only occasionally do I meet up with friends. Here are a couple of pictures some friends took.

I grew up just west of Port Angeles, didn't move to the San Francisco bay until I was almost 25. I really enjoy your shots and thoughts of Puget Sound.

I suppose this sign has a reason. Maybe they were having trouble with people walking a little too far.
I had to come into port for a day or two this weekend.

I'm at the "End of Dock" so I'll be careful.
I'm hoping to find a much quieter place for the 4th.

I have not been in a good internet location for a while.

This is where I spent the 4th.

I'm glad I wasn't on Lake Union in Seattle. Fourteen boats were set on fire by someone setting off fireworks from the shore.
This was my view this morning, July 9, as I sat on the aft deck and had a bowl of Old Dark Fired with my cup of coffee. Old Dark Fired is becoming my favorite morning smoke. Nicotine and caffeine; nothing like drugs in the morning to get a body moving!

I could hear the cars on the highway just behind the trees. I sometimes feel sorry for those who live in the city and have a hard time finding a quiet moment, let alone a quiet life.
I hope everyone is well.... :puffy:

Philip, I love the pictures you're showing us of life on the water. At times I envy you and at others I wonder how you do it. Please keep sending us those gorgeous pictures.

Peckinpah: How did the Hawaiian vacation go?

Does anyone remember Captain Ahab in Moby Dick smoking his pipe aboard? He was not at peace so he threw the pipe overboard.

I fear that is sometimes even a challenge for many people who reside in more tranquil settings. There is so much I miss from up north, but I have learned to love the things about the city that make it unique. Sitting in a pub with a pint then walking home in the evening when the fog shrouds the city and thinking to myself, "This is good!"

That's what I try to do too. I have lived in the desert, the forest, in cities and now on the water. There is something good about every place. So far I like being on the water. And smoking a pipe after a day of drifting around is a real pleasure.
Here I am back near Seattle.

I like Seattle better from a distance.
The country areas around here are much nicer.

Summertime around here is great. I hope you are all enjoying yours.
