Iwan Ries the THE oldest tobacconist in the USA, but IIRC, Sutliff predates it as a tobacco company. Iwan Ries is the second oldest company in Chicago, predating the Great Chicago Fire. It has moved a time or two. Amazingly , it has had the same phone number for over a century.Welcome from Chicago!
Craig's suggestion is a good one. Chicago pipe club is a good time. The shop we meet at (Arlington pipe and cigar) is pretty well stocked and worth a visit even if you can't make it to the club meeting. Also in Chicago, Iwan Ries is a must. It's one of the oldest tobacconists in the country.
I left the store that day with an ounce each of Blend 432, Belmont and Tashkent (their suggestion). Called them two weeks later and said, send me three more! That was B-94, Century and Royal. Century really struck me as a good one so 11/1 at midnight, I ordered their Thanksgiving Day blend and 8 oz of the Century.Welcome from Ohio! Did you purchase any pipe tobacco at Peretti's?
