Yesterday I was at my B+M checking to see if the had anything new and I noticed a pipe he had on the wall as a display.

It was a very small Oom Paul with no markings that he'd gotten as an estate pipe, it had some bad charring inside the bowl and he figure it wasn't worth restoring. It wasn't much bigger then a Peterson 317 with a chamber about 3/4" across but about 2" deep. I didn't pay it much thought at the time, and never thought to grab a pic of it, but while I was at home last night I kept thinking that I bet that pipe would have made a great flake pipe and perfect for a clencher. Has anyone come across a pipe like this? I would be looking for blasted or rusticated but I can't seem to find a smaller Oom Pauls, most seem to be on the larger size.

Probably not this pipe because it's smaller, but Iwan Ries used to sell a compact house pipe midway between a bent billiard and

Oom Paul, made by Benton, that somewhat filled this description, and in fact they sold a full-size Oom-Paul as well. Right now,

and for months, all of the house pipes by Benton are shown online, but are out of stock. I keep wondering if they are going to

discontinue their house pipes or change their source. In the past, IR has carried a few house pipes by other providers, at least one

probably by Sav, but not anymore.

A friend sent me a Baby Hungarian made by Szabo. I believe Hungarian is another name for Oom-Paul, but correct me if I am wrong. Finish quality is poor but I love the idea of having an Oom-Paul nose warmer.

I hear you. Claudio Cavicchi made a tiny OomPaul for Charles Mundungus and Mundungus believes it to be the perfect flake pipe. For me I think it would be the perfect clencher/pocket pipe and exquisite for those of us that smoke as we drive.

This Italian import was/is sold by Tinder Box.

It bears the Tinder Box stamp on the shank; but

I don't know if it's part of their regular inventory.

The stamp says, "The Tinderbox, Napoli"

That is very close to a Claudio Cavicchi in appearance. Maybe that's were Claudio got his inspiration?

I have a small Oom Paul by Trever Talbert from his Ligne Bretagne Series. I have always liked the shape but they tend to hold far too much for my liking. When I saw it I nabbed it right off, I have smoke flakes and rubbed out coins in it and it is very good with both although I must admit none of the Talbert pipes I own smoke badly.

Wow, that is a perfect tiny Oom Paul. Do you every smoke flakes in it? What do you normally smoke in it?

I have recently bought - by mistake quite frankly, a Hungarian that turned out to be petite. I bought it off an ebay.com type of webpage and while the buyer posted the measurements of the pipe, i did not pay much attention. Oddly enough in central Europe you can hardly find an oom paul, so I was quite happy with my discovery. I was in a rush to buy it, and honestly I was a tad disappointed when taking it out of the package and seeing it is so small. It's a nifty little thing though ... got used to it, and I quite enjoy it as it doesn't pack much tobacco, thus making it a quick smoke for when I don't have time to sit back and relax. It tends to be a hod smoke though, especially with a full bowl, although it also tends to cool off quickly after you are done smoking. I am not sure of the make - it does have the engraving "bruyere garantie", together with another engraving that reads "camping", and the number 1458. Not sure what to make of it, although some people suggested it may be a St. Claude make ..
