Slighted Tobacco

I have been reading discussions on this forum regarding a wide variety of tobacco blends but have found very little (at least of late) discussions regarding one particular blender. That blender would be Peter Heinrichs. I would presume this would be due to the scarcity of this tobacco? I purchased a tin of Golden Sliced in 2016 and have been holding it till now. I was thinking it might be time to give it a try. Does anyone have a thought on this that might be shared? Should I allow it to age even more? Should I offer it up for sale?

I have never seen tobacco by Peter Heinrichs discussed or available. I'd pop it and smoke it, myself.

Used to hear about his blends all the time, especially when Curly Block was sold under that name… think it’s sold as a Wessex blend now? I have a 2010 7oz tin of Curley Special that I look forward to smoking someday. Dark Strong gets a lot of love too.

Harder to come by here in the States, but a little easier to get across the pond.

I've only ever had PH's Dark Burley Flake (?) - top draw, premium stuff. Pipe tobacco is such a smaller industry than people expect, whenever a blend gets popular online now it'll sell out pretty much.

Your Peter Heinrichs Golden Sliced is a blend that benefits from aging as there's not a lot of flavor in it fresh. 6 years might be long enough.

Curly bock is something altogether different and is no longer manufactured by Peter Heinrichs. It's now an STG product and doesn't have the same flavor profile as the Peter Heinrichs product, which was similat to the Murrays version of Dunhill Navy rolls, a blend that Murrays created.

@lukasstrifeson I think you mean Dark Strong Flake, which is a direct copy of Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky. I wouldnt be supprised the Golden Sliced blend of Peter Heinrichs @MRW also is a copy of the Orlik version. Same cut, that long flake. Both are a steal at 75 euros per 500 grams in bulk.

So much depends on distribution. Even some brands that are distributed in the U.S. are rarely available. I give high marks to brands that distribute widely and pay attention to supply and demand, if I like their blends otherwise.

Members who rave about particular blends might mention what retailer(s) carry them, and if they are regularly available.
