Greetings:
I know that many of you make your own Savinelli filters using balsa trianangle strips from hobby stores. However, most I've seen, all on Amazon, are sold by American measurement standards, e.g., 1.4" or 3/8" - bigger than 6mm. I was wondering where you might find the right size strips or what size strip's you've been using.
thanks.

Here's an article that'll tell you more than you ever thought there was to know about filters.
Marketing pioneer Daniel Boone Savinelli with an early focus group.

The Balsa filters were a neat idea, though I didn't use them often in my Sav. They produced a nice dry smoke and took the edge off some perky Virginias I was puffing on at the time.

This is a little off the subject, but I was delighted to discover that the Savenelli adapters to make their balsa filter pipes non-filter pipes work nicely in other 6mm filter pipes such as Dr. Grabows. With my Royalton bulldog fitted as a non-filter pipe I like the draw much better than just smoking it without a filter or adapter. I focuses the airway and enhances the flavor for me. You can try both to see which is best for you, of course. Depends on taste. And you can always go back to a paper or balsa filter. SP has a package of six for five dollars, or some very modest price.
