I’ve spent the last two nights learning about Bill Hamilton after seeing a documentary about U.S. Navy Littoral Class ships. He was a genius and developed the first cintrifugal gear pump for boats. This translated to vessels being able to go upstream on the Colorado river against strong currents. Eventually the technology was used to engineer navy ships that could run in 10-14 feet of water, known as Littoral. Some links below. Eventually his legacy translated to HamiltonJets, one of the leading water engine companies today.
Anyway, almost everything I’ve researched show Mr. Hamilton with a pipe in his mouth.
