Most of my pipe smoking coworkers over the years have been Dansk and German. I'm really picky with German blends after smoking what I believe to be blends of what actual Germans smoke. This is a good one. I opened this tin and got that sharp nasal sting you I get from Copenhagen long cut. When I leaned in for a whiff I got that smell of Levi Garrett plug. Great combo of scents, I couldn't resist taking a little chaw of it...and I haven't chewed tobacco in probably 13 years. After letting that nicotine blast subside I rubbed one out and loaded a bole. Good and moist, just a center light and tamp reduced the volume of the load a good 25%. After a full light it burned nice and steady. It had a smoking flavor kind of like, this is going to sound really weird, tasting a library of old books with a crisp acidic pleasantry to it. Nasal sensation is most certainly sharp. The remaining flavor was that Copenhagen flavor and leather, I'd hate to say toasted nuts but definitely good and toasty. It's a good smoke, I enjoyed it. Heck, it's a good chaw too.

The first few times I had it I loved it and stocked up pretty deep on it. Then a couple of times it gave me wicked nicotine sickness. It absolutely may have been a coincidence -- empty stomach or something. I haven't gone back to it but should. Maybe half bowls for a while.

Nah bro. It's dark German tobacco. That gut punch while it's singing "Deutschland Deutschland Uber Alles" is how you know it's legit.

It’s a great tobacco. That and McConnell’s Latakia Flake are the same blend. Just fyi.

Commodore is $3 less. But certainly useful if I really want another can and its gone.

McConnell’s Latakia Flake is identical, FWIW. I’ve even seen photos of people peeling off the commodore label and finding a mcconnell one underneath it

It is my all time favorite blend!
It is much better fresh (1-3 years).
It is a chameleon tobacco, if sipped slowly it delivers very nuanced floral/spice/incense notes.
It is not a latakia bomb, despite the high percentage of latakia.
It is my precious.
It is indeed the same blend as McConnell's Latakia Flake.
