Less than two months ago, a Nording sitter--which I've never owned unless you count the Nording giant below--and rationalized to myself, this could be a cool pipe to use when working on my writing on the computer, because my desk turns into a paper-laden snow plateau and I can't easily find my Mr. Brog pipe stand. As usual, I brought the subject up to you folks; one produced a photo that looked like my desk, covered with paper and related office stuff, with a sitter calmly ensconced in the middle of it all. (If that gentleman can show us the photo again, I'd love to see it. I searched but couldn't locate it.) So I got the sitter and it's been a great companion to my writing. I'm already eyeing another; Nording seems to have the most and the least expensive ones.

So show us what sitters you have, and why you have them!

And here's the giant Nording:

Great Nording sitters! I have a Nording freehand and an Eriksen by Nording, but no Nording sitters. My favorite sitters among a few are the Peterson B11 brandies; I have a Killarney ebony and a Shannon. Here's a link to the shape, just for reference:

Mine must be six or seven years old now and have never had any problems, no stain in the bowls or stem when new, and no other complaints. These are a pleasing size and weight, with plenty of bowl, but light enough for clenching. It's one of the underrated Peterson shapes.

My only sitter, which is so small it cannot live up to its name unless stuffed to the brim with fresh and rather moist tobacco. Aside from that technical imperfection, it really is a dream to smoke:

I do have other pipes that will sit but that I think that is shit luck, I don't believe they set out to be sitters.

I am honestly surprised no one has posted pics of their bottoms. At work now, will try to do a group shot of my sitters when I get home.

Nice sitters all--i especially like the Cherrywood. You wouldn't want to part with that, would you?

Here's my William Anderson sitter. It sits a bit at a lean instead of straight which I thought was quite charming.

sparrow, if you are referring to my Scott Thile Cherrywood, I am sorry but it is not for sale. It is an amazing smoker that smokes cool and dry no matter what I put in it. Now of course if you make me an offer I cannot refuse, I would listen.

Not exactly what you were looking for, but here I am, and I'm sitting as usual. I just finished a bowl of Whiskey Biscuit Gravy in my Butz Choquin Camargue. It's definitely a sitter though, kind of a take on a bent bulldog with a flat bottom. Nice smoking pipe.

Lovely post/thread!!! I love seeing everyone's magnificent pipes! It just gives me smiles inside! To know that they are out there, and that other enthusiastic pipesters are out there as well is a great source of happiness to me. Thank you!

My puffing is not very refined, but isn't "sitter" a synonym for "relight" ?
