Sounds like Bruce. He invited me to his house for a cook out while Werner Mummert was there and I got to see him make one of mine while I was there.

That blowfish is my own favorite yellow-orange I've ever seen. #1. I have my own rough categories of colors, yellow, orange, brown and red, and that's a top 5 in any color. Attention grabbing without being ostentatious and showy. Perfect balance and proportion. Final pics show it wasn't overly ornamented. Simply great work.

EDIT: And on the helpful, open, nice guy thing, I think we're lucky and blessed in this hobby, because the vast majority of artisans I've met are like that. Only a few are mercurial ar-teests who only want to be told the finished product is wonderful, get your check and have you go away.

Those photos were where he wiped it down with a wet rag to show off the grain though he did give it a more natural stain.

Interesting. Still gorgeous, but it did go from yellow-orange to orange-brown. Everybody loves the fire grain, and me too, but the birdseye and "swirlies," as I like to call them, on the convex surface look incredible. The color change did seem to help contrast a bit, too.

Just wish he had blasted it. The underlying ring grain is incredible.

As a resident of the Volunteer State myself, I'm proud to say that Briarworks holds the most prominent spot in my pipe collection.

Up first is my Cannonball. I actually rode my motorcycle to the factory last year to get it (story here).

Next is the Hillbilly I was hoping to find when I was there in person. I actually ordered this over the phone and unseen while I had a nice conversation with Brad over there.

Next is a C121 Prince. I found this at a Tinder Box in Memphis. Wasn't planning to get a pipe that day but they were relocating the shop and the price was just too good.

My kids gave me this Grapeshot to match my Cannonball for Christmas last year. My wife actually revealed that she instigated it knowing how much I love my Cannonball but hating how long it takes me to finish a bowl 😅

Last is a Stublin that I picked up while on my first visit to The Country Squire a couple weeks ago. This one is quickly becoming a favorite with how portable it is and easy to clench while taking the dog for a walk.

I keep checking their site weekly hoping for a Pot Still to show up but no luck yet. Maybe they'll have some available at Muletown...

They've taken down most of their inventory to have plenty to sell at the pipe show. They're working OT as well. They don't want to be the host of this shindig and run out of pipes in 2 minutes. But go Sat. Don't wait until Sun. Regardless, if you don't find what you want, PM me. You have a nice collection, and they will try to accomodate you. They've bent over backwards for me more than once.

EDIT: Great story about the motorcycle trip! I planned one there once, but found my time limited due to work, and had to take the auto. Gonna make a point of riding there in late spring and enjoying a whole day.

I’m ashamed but happy to admit my third Ron Smith is back in action. I lost this pipe for like six months, and it was laying on my mom and dad’s grill on their covered porch. One of my kids found it. The wax and most of the stain was gone. Sanded it, put a new coat of stain on it, and since I don’t have a buffer wheel, I bought some restoration cream from Lbepen.com, and it worked wonders. Not quite as shiny as if I used a wheel and carnuba, but close.
