Ok.
Since I first began seriously seeking and collecting knives, there was always one brand that seemed to exist in rarified air. Knives so unique and beautiful, their appearance seemed to bely their insane cutting properties.

I’ve come close to picking one up several times, but always ended up going in a different direction. Having just released a new handle color in my preferred model, they finally hooked me.

They did a great polish on that bevel!

Nice, I like that "nessmuk" look. I prefer a scandi grind, but I'm sure it's perfectly fine as is!

I like flat or hollow grind on my EDCs.
I use the crap out of them and sharpen them often. I hate re- profiling a blade if I dont have to.

I carry this Case Texas Toothpick most days. It was a Christmas gift from my wife.

Backstory: among my grandfather’s things when he died was a tiny single blade pocketknife in an old toolbox. Unfortunately it was too rusty to save, but I really liked it and was on the lookout for something similar. My wife remembered and got me this.

Out in nature, I carry an all stainless Kershaw with a pocket clip and spring assist, but for everyday use I love this tiny gentleman’s knife.

First thing that comes out of the suitcase, while standing there at baggage claim (and one reason I always check a bag) is my EDC.

What a fantastic utilitarian design!

…and I think 14c28n is perhaps the best and most underrated “budget” stainless going right now.
Fantastic toughness for a stainless steel, and really seems to offer all the wear resistance I need (for the applications that I use it for).

Larrin Thomas from Knife Nerds says 14c28n is better than many steels used in $400 knives. The reason is that 14c28n is extremely easy to heat treat to perfection. MANY manufacturers do not care as much about their heat treat as they care about using fancy steel names. I have abused several 14c28n knives. They stay sharp, and strop back to razor sharp easily. They may not be as tough as some other steels, but for an edc flipper, its a great steel.
If you haven't read any of Larrin' work, you should check him out. He has a doctorate in metallurgy and truly is a knife nerd. His work is often cited in advanced metallurgy papers.

I ended up paying $23 for it.
I will test it out very soon.
I plan on pushing it to its limits.
I have a bunch of hunting/camp knives, I dont really need another one. The 14c28n is what made me buy it. I've never had a fixed blade in this steel. We will see.

I actually think this steel EXCELS in a fixed blade much like its cousin, AEB-L.
This forged puukko from Rafa Trentin is my workhorse for outdoor cutting.



The handle is made from celaron micarta- just as tough as the 14c28n lol.
At the end of the day, all it takes is about 20 strokes on a loaded strop and it’s back to slicing receipt paper.
