Too cool. Now I have a piece of the backstory.Parsimonious, it is true, I did love that pipe. I am glad it found a good home.
It couldn't have gone to a better person who appreciates these pipes.

Another one I found in pretty good condition, this time with a box and for $33. I just love Bulldogs. Note the “Italy” stamped on the stummel…this would’ve been a later year, likely about the time Lee’s Briarlee sub-brand was also moved there from the U.S.

That bulldog is a nice find indeed. There must be a bulldog bug in the air! I certainly caught it.
That's a nice find too!
seriouslyDamn, those were "seconds?"
I disagree. I think those are beautiful pipes actually.
Rarely. I had had three. One I sold - to Parsimonious if memory serves. How often do these come up for sale?
Your memory serves well. It was a nice addition to my collection.Rarely. I had had three. One I sold - to Parsimonious if memory serves.
As @telescopes said, yes. When they’re really gunked up, I’ll rig the stem to stand vertically in a glass and fill it with enough 90+% alcohol to cover the stinger. A good soak usually does it. If you have trouble getting it apart after that, DM me.Could one of you fine gentleman help me? I have a Gold Coast Pipe with the screw style stinger, and I can't figure out if the stinger is supposed to be removable for cleaning of the stem or not.
Thank you, I've been trying not to destroy the stinger or the stem. I've been soaking it in Ballistol oil and giving it gentle tugs to try and break it free for cleaning. I had soaked it for 24 hours in oxyclean and scrubbed it and such, but that didn't do much but rinse out gunk from inside the button on the stem. I'll try alcohol next, I wasn't sure if that'd hurt it or not. CheersAs @telescopes said, yes. I checked one of my Gold Coast pipes today. The stinger wouldn't come out. I put the end of it in my vice and with ease, I could turn and twist the stem and easily pull it out. Without the aid of the vice, it was a no go. Maybe this will help you.Thank you, I've been trying not to destroy the stinger or the stem. Provided you don’t crush the stingerI checked one of my Gold Coast pipes today. The stinger wouldn't come out. I put the end of it in my vice and with ease, I could turn and twist the stem and easily pull it out. Without the aid of the vice, it was a no go. Maybe this will help you.
