"So gents, show us your giatnts and their provnance."
"Love that giant Upshaw. Need to check out their pipes.."

You might have a chance of finding them if you search for UPSHALL pipes. If and when you find them you won't be disappointed.
BTW, I do hope you hire a proofreader for the books you say you write
Regards,
Jay.

That's an incredible piece of briar Craig61a! Beautiful!!! I recently acquired two dozen unsmoked, p-grade or higher James Upshalls, but none with a band as elegant as ssjones'. Mine are all earlier pipes, I think -- 1980s. All those the silver bands and spigots were done by Les Wood. I wonder if he did ssjones' too. Unfortunately, my pipes all arrived from Australia smelling musty. They're in an ozone cabinet right now, but so far, they're proving resistant. I had hoped to sell perhaps half of them, but will be forced to keep them all if I can't eliminate the aroma. I'm sure I'll find a solution.

Here's a detail shot of the band on my Upshall. The original owner, a Colonel in the Army, stationed in DC ordered it thru JB Hayes. When he passed, his widow sold his pipes back to the shop and I bought it in 2014. John Hayes had the invoice that said it was sent to Les Wood for the band. Apparently, the Colonel had multiple pipes with this tobacco leaf band and it was somewhat of his trademark and Hayes sold several Ashtons similarly adorned (gone before I visited the shop). I wish that I had asked for a copy of the invoice (or snapped a picture of it).
