I'll be darned if I can can get along with the few cigar cutters I've had my hands on, and it makes me shy away from cigars. Doubtless this is because they've all been cheap as chips, so I've eyed up the ascending price scale, still have no clue. Yet, some modest Cubans languish among my clutter, crying to be smoked.

What do you all use?

I have maybe 50 cigars left. I don't smoke em very often, and I guarantee they are all probably dry garbage now. I try to humidity them when I remember.

But since I don't smoke them that often, I've only ever used cheap 2 dollars tools. I had a v cutter, but that broke in half. I also had a push style keychain cutter. (Puts a cylindrical hole in the end) I preferred that method, as I'm clumsy with everything else, and ruin the ends quickly.
So I'll be watching this thread!

I only have a cheap Alaska Bear cutter that works ok, but would like to get a buy it for life high quality cutter. I probably only smoke 5-10 cigars a year so I feel silly spending a lot on a cutter. I am hoping someone might have a reasonably priced cutter suggestion that may serve me well.

Over the years I have acquired about 30 different cigar cutters. Most are just simple, cheapie cutters, give away cutters from shops and so forth. In the first photo I show 6 cutters that I keep around but almost never use. The next photo shows couple of my favorite cutters. and then a few individual pics. The Lotus is my absolute favorite pic. #3, with the Palio & the Xikar 2nd & 3rd. There are two V cutters with I rarely use, two Punch cutters which I use now and again and a Scissors cutter which I hate. The Lotus is super well made, strong and the blades hold a very sharp edge.

Throughout the ’90s and beyond, my EDC cutter was a Davidoff Guillotine with self sharpening blades. All of my jeans had the outline of the shape worn into my left back pocket. I still have it, but it’s in storage, probably in a box in my basement, but it looked like this:

These days I mostly use a XIKAR VX2 V-cut and a cheap Colibri Viper V cutter (for on the go):

These two Select Draw punches are interesting, but usually damage the caps too much, so I don’t reach for them often:

The bigger of the two is too unwieldy—of the two, the smaller one is more user friendly.

Another fun punch, that I don’t use too much these days is a circular punch in a .44 Magnum shell:

The XIKAR XO is great because of the gear system that applies even pressure from both sides:

This XIKAR Xi3 Fossil Mammoth Ivory Cigar Cutter with 10,000 year old tusk scales is a favourite mostly because I love having something so old incorporated in the design—coolness factor wins out (plus it’s a perfectly fine cigar cutter—shown with the now discontinued Xi Stingray case):

It was issued in a large, plain leather box (Stingray case not included):

@TheIronMonkey I remember when that Mammoth cutter came out. That’s exceptional! Very jealous!

Here are my cutting gadgets. The first real non-disposable “cutter” I bought is the wooden punch in the upper right. I think I got it at JP Erlich’s in Boston. The “key” in the middle is a Montecristo branded punch that I received as a gift when I got a Montecristo credit card back in the early ‘00s. The guillotine cutter in the middle is also Montecristo branded and came as part of the gift package. The Xikar Xi3 in Rosewood is my everyday cutter and I recently picked up the Xikar VX2 is a new experiment for me.
