I had a Ben Wade Freehand Golden Walnut I purchased back in the 70's. It was a favorite pipe that somehow got lost. I finally got around to picking up another from Mike at BriarBlues.

That is a really nice freehand sitter! I know the guy who sent it to Mike......ME! I'm very happy it finally went to someone who will appreciate it!

The pipe world is a small world. Tell me, does it sit comfortably in the mouth? I've had my eye on the pipe for several weeks. I was surprised it didn't sell sooner. There were others listed for as much as $100 more and I don't think they looked any better.

Sorry to underwhelm here, but I like traditional pipes mostly. So here is my one and only Ben Wade, made in England, which is also my only Canadian shape pipe. I've had it for over 25 years and it's a small pipe but a nice smoking pipe when I want a smaller bowl.

Acrylic stems have the BW crown stamped in the stem instead of raised as it is on the vulcanite stems. These Wades are from the 1970's as well.

I bought a Ben Wade "Western" which was a straight panel billiard blast finished. It was love at first sight. Two things finally wore me down so I traded it. The airway was a little too open and kind of diminished flavor. And the finish never became worn in but kept looking somewhat plasticized. It was a nifty pipe in several ways, but I finally traded it off.

Other than my Weavers, my Wades are my favorites!

Sold my Ben Wade. I bought it around 1973, smoked the hell out of it for 40 years. Never liked it. Sold it to sp.com for about 4 times what it cost new.
