Do self-gifted pipes count ? ?
If not, then the pickings are very slim ?

I did have one gifted by a former girl-friend, but that got put in a gift-box when I met my wife. I didn't think she'd want to be reminded of a former squeeze ?

There were a few "oddball" pipes picked up by my father on his travels - one made of buffalo horn, and a "silver" one - probably items for smoking substances other than tobacco. ?

Which leaves only 2 - both coincidentally Dunhills (up until then my only Dunnies).
The small Apple on the left was from a friend given as a graduation present.
And the shell on the bottom was from another friend on my return to smoking pipes a few years ago. This pipe is all the more special as it was an unsmoked one from a collection his father left him.image.jpg

Thanks again Mike
More than welcome Scott, and I forgot about that Ripple Grain! You should post up your Dunhill if you haven't already.

A forum member came across some threads where I was talking about Dr. Grabow Color Dukes and sent me these two. His screen name eludes me now though.

@ashdigger, in a spontaneous bout of generosity, sent me the worlds most beautiful meer pipe. It is probably 100+ years old and is at least 3x as beautiful as the pictures show.

This pipe was gifted to me by another forum member who has disappeared over the past few years. I really should email him and see how he's doing. Thanks @bnichols23 , wherever you are. It's a Peterson Tara, which I was looking for for a long time.

My family and friends are under strict orders not to buy me a pipe. The excuse of "I thought you would like it" just doesn't cut it. I mean this year I told my wife the get me some La Flor Dominicana cigars. I told her two sizes I really likes. She brought home some Arturo Fuente Canones. Then I have to tell her I don't like Canones and then the bawling starts. "You never like anything I get for you" will go on for hours. I can't win. And if I don't tell her I don't like them she will be buying them forever.

This is great haha and relatable. For the meerschaum above, I gave my wife very specific guidance (website, only IMP, only smooth, not to exceed 7” etc.) after that it’s her decision and she hit it out the Park and we are both happy!

One of my office assistants gave me this pear wood Pipesmith pipe.

I fired it up and got the biggest surprise I’ve had in pipe smoking since the first NOS Lee I ever smoked.

At least this pear wood pipe, is an incredibly mild, cool, sweet smoker from the start, and I’ll be damned if it doesn’t taste like a sweet pear when smoked.

The large 9mm filter makes this pipe as mild as a cigarette. Without the filter the void serves as a water well.

Pear wood is an amazingly good insulator. This pipe barely gets warm to smoke.

If the object is a sweet smoking pipe, then pear wood fills the need very well, and it’s attractive too, I think.
