While I have a number of Ropp pipes, I decided to pay up for the Smoking Pipes 25th Anniversary edition. So glad I did. A smooth bent apple coming in at 5" length, .79" diameter and 1.29" depth put it right in the sweet spot for me for dimensions. The horn stem and Peterson silver really shows off. This is #24/80.

Great pics. Thanks! Been wanting to see some real life photo's. I really like chubby/ stout apple's & billiards like my early 1900's BBB's, so I had to get one. I also like bent horn stems, not straight, so I'm looking forward to it. For some reason I never receive SP emails anymore, so I got there late and missed the one's with great grain. I ended up with #28. Yeah, the specs were right in my wheelhouse too. Glad you're happy with it.

the 80 pipes would have been nice to see when they rolled out. I got on the sp website when they actually started the billboard add for these pipes on top. The page would not load any pipes then.

Got to actually see the last two remaining pipes today. Not bad looking, be fun for a good flake. But they couldnt take the time to NOT dip the whole stummel in the stain...

Ropp makes small pipes. Had an etudiant, but the bend in the stem combined with such a small diamter hole in the stem.. couldnt get a pipe cleaner through without crushing one end with a pair of pliers.

But when i managed to rip a small chunk out of the internal air passage in the stem, it DID draw much better, but I think it is why is started whistling.

How are the stem construction on the straight stemmed, and the partially bent pipes?

I have a lot of old Britwoods and they (both straight and bent) have narrow airways typically

Simple solution is using THIN cleaners eg Falcon or Stanwell brands

The really old Britwoods with amber stems and horn tenons are narrower still.
I use the multicoloured cleaners from hobby stores (as recommended by @condorlover1)

I tried using hobby store "pipe cleaners" once. Just ONCE back in college. Trying to save money, and not wanting to go make a quick trip to the store.

Those things SHED.. i mean, like a black haired dog on a white shag carpet. Worse then a black haired cat on a white sweater bad.

And when it BURNS because it got stuck in the bowl and you did not see it...

Tastes just like cornell and diehl constellation.

NOT ever a problem I have ever encountered with the coloured cleaners I bought a few years back from a discount $2 store

BJ Long cleaners shed - clogged up one of my bone tenons. Pushed out a half inch wad of compacted fluff with a piece of stiff wire

Junked my entire stash of BJ Longs and switched to BBB fluffy cleaners (available from The Danish Pipe Shop).
Problem solved

All of my Ropps are straight stems. I have no trouble passing a cleaner through the stems, including my Etudiant.

2 of mine. The first is an altesse with a copper inlay on stem. The second one although made of a very nice piece of briar, the last owner or past owners did a very good job of polishing the Ropp logo and whatever else it said off from years of use. Both are excellent smokers but I dont know much about Ropp pipes or the production dates. I’m sure I have a few more but when you got a few hundred pipes 😬 who knows.
