Written sources claim they were made by Whitehall.
But Packards were made by Studebaker for a couple of years about the same general time period.
Two things distinguish a Pipe Maker from a Briarlee:
1. Pipe Maker stamping
2. A different shade of paint (?) or whatever the hard finish coat was.
Did Lee sell Whitehall some machines?
Or did Whitehall fill Wally Frank contracts advertising Pipe Maker generics for a 75 cents or a dollar by sub contracting them to Lee?
Neither Lee or Whitehall wanted their brand associated with Pipe Ma
This Forecaster small Pear looks like a Pipe Maker which looks like a Briarlee.

Somebody made machines that made dollar pipes, and somebody made metal fitments and stingers to the Briarlee pattern.
It must have been cheaper or maybe easier to use that screw stem than fit push stems.
Maybe there were more pipe makers who made generic dollar pipes.
