I have to say, many of the images posted here are of significantly higher quality than I’m used to seeing from Peterson. I know there are claims of greatly improved QC from some point in time, but I just don’t get that many opportunities to handle non-estate pipes I guess I’m just lagging behind.

What would be the cutoff point/range of manufacture from which Peterson’s pipes became respectable once more? And where would you rank these revived Pete’s amongst other factory pipes, how would you compare them to, say, the Stanwell of old, or Georg Jensen, etc?

So you're the one who snatched one of them barley OB's outta my cart!!! LOL....
Website was bad tonight. I've never had this much difficulty securing a special release.
I did pick up one of each shape.
LOL! I got in at apparently some magic moment just after 5 pm that allowed me to order that one (I picked the Rua off of SP EU yesterday morning) - was surprised even yesterday well into the evening the site was making me "queue" up.

My supply of "Wintertime Reserve" tells me I've ordered a couple more new Petersons than maybe I should have lately - pleasant surprise that the PPN also qualified for some free tobacco and it's on the way!

Merry Christmas!

I was on early, refreshing frequently, and got right on the page when they dropped. Made it 12 pages through in my perusing, had just gotten to the terracotta ones and was checking each one out.
When I hit "back" from my 3rd terracotta observational excursion - I got sent back to page 1!!! And got jammed more heavily than I ever remember before.
I have slow internet at home and had to laboriously slog my way back to page 12.
So, 30 minutes later I managed to find one to put into the cart and slog through the checkout process.
Thus, I got the finish I wanted, but the grain is not what I would have chosen if there had been more time.
The chamber dimensions seem quite similar to a 314 or even a current 312, which is smaller than I originally expected, but the hefty bowl should feel good in hand and I do like the look. And these dimensions have worked consistently for me.
And that big, fat button, should be good.
I don't think I ever even saw a barley finish, although they should have been on an early page, and the Ruas I saw didn't have appealing grain / stain combos for me.

Oh heck, I'm always looking for No. 221 on these and never get one - put a "B" on there . . .

So, even though I didn't want a straight pipe, and it's not a Sherlock Holmes release, and it's rusticated, I succumbed. At least I'll be less likely to drop it.

This will pair nicely with one of the Wintertime Reserves (the couple I've tried have been good) - I'll have a cellar's worth of this stuff the way things have been going.
