My third pipe was a Donegal Rocky Kapmeer 999 with transitional stem (1969-1971) ! Donegal Rocky's maintain their good looks and are workhorse pipes.
A question for Peterson Experts: Is it normal for the draft boring in a Pub pipe to narrow as it approaches the bowl chamber ? I believe I read once that it is not uncommon. My Pub pipe draft seems very wide at the condensation chamber but narrower when it enters the bowl almost as if they switched drill bits. Just curious if anyone else has encountered this ? I know I can drill it out by hand but I haven't decided if I want to yet. It does restrict the draw to what I'm used to having. Thanks in advance for any comment/assistance.
Should be the same. I run a drill bit through the bore and it’s amazing the amount of tar that comes out sometimes.
Thanks; so it might not be drilled all the way then. It cleaned each smoke so no tar/debris.
It’s most likely drilled. Cleaning with pipe cleaners just doesn’t get everything
I use a brush too periodically - will do that right after this bowl. Thanks. The opening in the bowl is a bit small and at an angle ... there may be a bit of briar that didn't cut away ...like an overhang.

I was finally lucky enough to snag a “chubby” 999 MADE IN IRELAND. It even came with the upside P-lip.
The inverted Plip was only found on factory pipes made after a two pint lunch.

A smooth 65, 86, 87, 106, or 107 would’ve been awesome, but until they bring the line back out it’ll do

I love the Shorts, Sports, Sportsman lines, but the stems that Giacomo Penzo did for the Short Army line are in a separate classI KNOW Sykes enjoys the smaller pipes himself, so there is a decent chance we shall see them again.
