My 2024 Christmas Pipe is losing it's bright copper sheen and the patina is setting in. I like it a lot. I do polish it from time to time but the sheen does not return to it's original state, and I'm fine with that.
I did order another one. It will be here soon. I won't mind shiny, I won't mind a true patina.
I swear the first one was neither...

I was perusing Peterson PSB’s several days ago, and came across this wicked ring Pub pipe.

So I placed an order, and I received it today.

As usual for Peterson, the drilling was off. The airway is a little high on the back wall of the chamber, but I figured it would smoke reasonably well in spite of the drilling. I grabbed a micro fiber cloth to wipe the pipe down before I put it back in the box. As I was wiping it down I noticed an odd reflection on the silver ring.

There’s a huge ding in the silver. I didn’t see that on the photo initially, and when I went back to look at the photo on the website, I didn’t see any ding.

So apparently between the photo and it being shipped out to me it was dropped or somehow mishandled, returned to the box, and ignored…

I’ve returned a number of Pete’s over the last several years due to defects (I think they like to refer to them as features).🙄

I took a hiatus from buying Pete’s for several years a few years back. Then I gradually started buying them again. As I received pipes that didn’t measure up to what I expected quality wise I’d return them.

This isn’t a Peterson problem, as I mentioned it was not visible in website photo. This was recklessness by SP.

The 10% discount was dropped on Pete’s, and the free shipping was bumped to $125. I guess the fallout of the STG buyout, with TobaccoPipes and a few other vendors being disappeared has left them feeling that they don’t have to provide the same level of customer service they once did.

I’m a bit pissed. I won’t return this one, and haven’t contacted them. I like the blast on it and I guess it’s been “given some “street cred”. Besides I’m tired of having to return stuff.

I’ll just stop buying them.

There are no longer any real pipe shops around here any more, so unless I travel to a Pete dealer where I can actually look at what I’m buying, I’ll just be SOL. 😡

Decked out my Pete with a new fall coloured 9mm filtered acrylic stem. Only downside of this stem set up with the system pipe (minus the stock stem) is that the draw is almost too wide open even with a 9mm ac filter in place. Being a filtered smoker, really not used to it. Zero resistance at all. Gotta really change my cadence and draw strength. Like being a newbie again.

When I draw in, it’s almost like getting a big breath of fresh air! 😂

I gave up on trying to find a stock 9mm stem for it to replace my broken one. Tried these tapered acrylic stems on the advice of a member here. Not too bad. Plus they come in multiple colours. I got a standard black, an orange for fall/Halloween and a green one for Christmas/St. Patty’s day. They’re cheap too.

2024 PPN POY 309 SSB-P
View attachment 422278
I had literally just been looking at the PPN blog on the ‘24 POY release for about the thirtieth time, then perused the ‘bay for 309’s before I clicked on the forum and saw it’s ad here-four days to cross the pond and clear to here.
I told ya my next Pete would be two favorite colors: black and chrome😉
Grateful every day.
So sweet. I’d love one.

Love all the ones posted here. When I grow up and have the cash (ie. after all 3 kids are done rep. Sports and university etc 😂), I’ve got a bucket list:

-9mm Peterson Sherlock Holmes pipe
- Vauen Auenland Churchwarden.
-Finding a decently sourced and affordable tub of Carter Hall in Canada.

Funny how your material focussed bucket lists change. Ever since I was a kid, I’d say that I’d know I’ve made it when I have a dishwasher, pool, and a fridge with a built in ice dispenser. I think Winona Ryder also factored in there somewhere also. Lol.

Now, looking at my pool, with a glass of ice water after being told to start the dishwasher by my beautiful wife (not Winona, but definitely had similarities once upon a time). Dreams do come true. 😂

Now I just need those two pipes and a 1987 Monte Carlo SS to be complete.

PS. If any of you can help me with my Carter Hall wish, you could actually make one of my dreams happen. I’m looking at you fellow Canadians with a cellar! 🇨🇦

That looks great! Where do you get these stems from?
