When it comes to Petes - pre 1990 system Premiers are one of my favorites.
This new addition is extra interesting, because of the discontinued shape and of course it's age.

It's quickly becoming a favorite shape of mine and the size is just perfect.

The 314 has been my favorite system standard for some time, but these new releases share the same stem, which makes the 312 a new favorite for me; very similar profile, slightly larger bowl & chamber, but same clench. This Halloween special arrived today and I took a few quick pics at lunch. Pics are rather boring, but the pipe is here.









The all-black makes it seasonally appropriate for me. Likely break it in tonight with a new-to-me tin as well.

And a damn fine smoker it is. Inaugural was an almost new-to-me blend (3rd or 4th bowl) of Louisiana Broken.
This is going to get a lot of use this month. I like it.

Nice. I had an unmounted XL81S, but the shape just wasn’t for me.
The SH Squire is an XL81 I believe (I didn’t have both in hand at the same time, so I can’t say for sure, but I’m 90+% it is).

Yes. They did one a few years back with an orange military mount which looked quite smart and if they wanted to push the envelope and do a purple or radioactive green perhaps. Pete has a huge fan base and I’m sure something crazy would be well received, heck they may even be able to up the price for seasonal pipes that match the season!

I was initially under-impressed with the thought, but studying closely I took a chance.
I do really like it in hand.
I also REALLY wanted to have a Christmas Pete with the copper, but the one I ordered was already losing it's copper plating? and I hadn't even fondled it yet.
I love the idea though. Hoping I simply got a bad one (returned) and others have better luck with theirs...

Especially if they make it a limited run and leverage the fan base’s fear of missing out.
Personally, the old classics are what I like about the company.

I had literally just been looking at the PPN blog on the ‘24 POY release for about the thirtieth time, then perused the ‘bay for 309’s before I clicked on the forum and saw it’s ad here-four days to cross the pond and clear to here.
I told ya my next Pete would be two favorite colors: black and chrome

I Have one as well but haven’t smoked it, I really wish I could have snagged it in a smooth but I’m thankful for what I got, what’s the # on yours out of curiosity

I wondered the exact same thing; but the sample I got "looked" exactly like it was disappearing just as I've seen on the old Gold Block......
I suppose I could order another one to inspect and see for myself if it was a fluke.
It def was not giving off a patina effect.
If someone else has one they can chime in and let me know more?
I really would enjoy one that had a proper copper band.....
