Recently I started enjoying one big pipe a day, although I am usually a fan of smaller pipes. This being said a big pipe for me was a 9s or a group 5 dunhill... Let's see if I can handle something like this though💪

I also got the straight PSB Hand Made, but it needs to be restored before showing it off here 😊
That's a great looking house pipe. What year? Its a lot more slender than our modern version.

Slender is the last word I would use to describe it 😂
I was just reading Mark's article about the Hand Made XXL and although he writes they started production in 1991, mine is actually from 1990.

And when it comes to the size, it has almost the same dimensions as a 1924 system 2 House pipe, I had the pleasure to own for about a week, before our beloved Mr @ashdigger got involved 😂DSC05447.jpgDSC05456.jpgDSC05455.jpg

What do you guys think of the 2025 Christmas Pipes? As an owner of a gorgeous 2024 Christmas Pipe I have to say that I'm underwhelmed with the 2025 versions?

I picked up the 999. It’s my first rusticated Pete, I like it more than ai thought I would. I appreciate the vulcanite stem and that they didn’t use the colored in “P”. The drilling is sloppy but I’m going to keep it anyways because overall I’m happy with it.

For the record, it is a fantastic smoker. I smoke it almost daily.

??? 🤔 I thought the article said late 70's with one appearing on the cover of the 1983 catalog but not appearing inside. ??? I have an Erica System second purchased in 1983/4 that I believe is an XXL second. Perfect smoker. A second because I believe they hit a pit and had to cut 2mm off top of bowl, It has similar diminsions to those listed in the article but 2mm shorter. Curious ...

Question for the Pete guys with the Halloween pipes coming out soon - I like my 302 but I’d like a shape that is shorter and hangs closer to the chin. Is the 317 super duper tiny? I know it’s got a much smaller bowl but it’s hard to get a feel for how it hangs (so to speak). I thought maybe 317 or 303, or say screw it and get a big B42 anyway because I think the shape is more beautiful.

Sounds like you want a stem with more bend not necessarily a smaller bowl. Look at the pictures carefully and choose one with greater bend, I have noticed some are bent more than others. I use a savinelli dry system stem on my 302 frequently for a deeper bend. Otherise you could buy an extra stem for about $35 plus tariff from Simmonds on ebay and try to deepen the bend. Just less than 2 cents ideas ...

314 may be the in-between size you're looking for. I have all those sizes and it's an excellent all-round performer. Great bend / clench.
317 very similar but a little smaller bowl and less thickness on the walls. Hangs similarly.
The B42 is further "out" and not quite the same comfort, it's further away from the chin.

I use the Savinelli dry system stem when I smoke mine with a filter ! Excellent smoke and very comfortable pipe !
Savinelli dry system is what got me started on this sort of path. I had a few, but got rid of all but 1 after I went to the P-lip. I find them more comfortable. That's why we got choices...

Thanks, that helps narrow it down. I think the 314 might be what I’m after.

The Peterson Halloween 2025 pipe is available on Smokingpipes.eu. It looks strikingly like the Dunmore series but in all black. While I am not a fan of Seasonal pipes generally, this one seems to have a simple elegance or formality to it not seen in some time, in my opinion -- like a tuxedo pipe.
