Is there a thread for this already? I’m talking about an estate pipe you bought that has no stamp on it. I wanted to ask this: what’s your no-name pipe that you love that you really don’t know who made it? Or maybe you’re just not 100% sure? Do you think it was hand made? Factory made? Is it old? Very old? Maybe you have a pretty good idea about it? Let’s see it! I want to hear about it.

Three years ago, I did a major thinning of my stash of pipes, selling every pipe I wasn’t head over heels in love with.

Naturally, I kept all my Lees.:)

But this medium sized, no name, push stem, unmarked Author is a jewel.

It was probably a promotional pipe. I had to remove a lot of varnish. It’s air hole is not centered.

But it’s one of my favorite briars.

That is lovely! Hmm… lovely doesn’t cover it: quite unique. What could be the story of that?

Sorry. I had time to sit down and read more of your text. Promotional means a shop or company had someone produce it and they handed them out? I wonder if it’s an American pipe? I guess it depends where you’re posting from, where you got it, etc.

Got this for a buck or so. I’m cheating though, it does have some nomenclature, however, there is absolutely nothing about this brand that I’ve found on the internet, or if there was, there was very little info. One of the absolute best pipes in my collection. It has a ridiculously large chamber, it smokes VA’s like a dream and I usually prefer VA’s in a smaller/narrow chamber. I just can’t speak highly enough about this pipe.

This is one I don't reach for often. Nothing exceptional, grain-wise. I bought it from a buddy who got it in a big lot of pipes and pieces. It just sorta fit my size preferences..

It's a pretty short, oval shank, "danish" looking billiard type with a comfy vulcanite tapered stem. There's a silver ring imbedded in the stem - fits the stummel just right.
The only stamp is a quite faint 1930 on the underside near the heel.

Seems to smoke just fine. Maybe I should go for it more frequently in the new year.

Attractive shape/proportions and stain/grain. It’s agreeable to say the least.
