Up until a couple of months ago I wasn't a big meer fan, but now I find them irresistible and extremely hard not to keep... I am still unsure though if I prefer African or Turkish meer. Here are a few more recent acquisitions:
Just in…Tekin Lattice Dublin with orange bent stem. Couldn’t resist as the price was just right. Super light in weight and drilled spot on passing a pipe cleaner with ease. Can’t wait to smoke it. Happy Day!

The Turkish makers have it. Vermont Freehand's has the metallic luster I don't care for.
I was just working on other pipes when I took the photo.
Once upon a time I ran a humidor in a smoke shop and had a customer who wore gloves just like that every time he smoked a cigar. I think he may have even brought in a pair for me at one point - like he was doing me a favor?
He didn't like the way cigars made his hands smell. It was so frigging bizarre I've never forgotten it.
As long as they're not made of disposable latex, I'm fine with it.I take it that you don’t like fezes and smoking jackets ?
The gloves in the picture (if I'm not mistaken) are disposable black latex gloves, just like the ones my former customer used.
I have nothing against gloves being worn during smoking, nor a fez or smoking jacket, but black disposable latex gloves for smoking were a new one to me.

I suppose IF you are anal or handling a piece of meerschaum high art, white cotton gloves would be de riguer
Back when I was smoking cigars, I would don a pair of white cotton gloves when inspecting or brushing my collection of aged Habanos

What an interesting meer: wire rustication and then a clear stem. It's cool to see carvers trying new things, even if it's not my personal style. The shaping looks very good as well.
My MBSD billiard is a daily driver. Soft, light turkish. It's pretty beat up but one of my favorite smokers.
Just nabbed this last minute, while a nurse was drawing my blood yesterday. I was also on the phone with my cousin at the time. She just happened to come in and get started when there was like 30 seconds left on the auction and so we both kept doing our thing. Dedication. Devotion. Call it what you will, but i'm now the proud owner of my first African meer. 1976 Pete "Tawney Deluxe" XL90 with fumed rim.
Got it off Deadman. Nice guy. Hope i didn't snipe it from one of you fine fellows. It's 1 year off my birth year. African meer, which i've been wanting to try for years and just always had other priorities with buying. Also, being a Pete, it has a lot of history with the Manx production facility, and they'll never make more, so, therefore will sell better should that day ever come down the road. That was a consideration as well. The final straw was that it was an XL90. That's the model of Newgrange i bought with the unfortunate 3-day burnout. I replaced that with a Newgrange B10 the other day and so this was a perfect way of getting that back and all the other above boxes ticked.

I was busy writing an entire novel on the WAYS thread about my naughty little excursion from the room today. It is Meerschaum Monday, afterall. And all i have while travelling is a few meers. Couldn't resist! :P
