The price is given because they are pipes with a highly valued brand that were sold for a short period of time in a very specific place. Anyway, except for extreme collecting, there are much better pipes to spend 300 dollars on. The few I have are from before the interest in it was unleashed and I paid very little money for it. Still, they are interesting.

Definately, no sense dropping 300 on a Dr. Grabow just because it has Mickey Mouse on it. Hell most new Petersons and Savinellis don't cost that much.
